Interim President appointed at UCC
University College Cork (UCC) today announces that its Governing Body has appointed Professor John O鈥橦alloran as its interim President.
Professor O鈥橦alloran has served as Deputy President and Registrar since 2018 and assumes the interim President role immediately for a period of one year.
鈥淭hese are challenging times but the strength of UCC, is its community. I look forward to working together with our students and colleagues.鈥 commented Professor O鈥橦alloran.
Dr Catherine Day, Chair of the Governing Body of UCC welcomed Professor O鈥橦alloran鈥檚 appointment and wished him every success in his leadership of the University.
In July, Professor Patrick O鈥橲hea announced his retirement as President and an international recruitment search for a successor will be launched in the coming months.
The appointment has been welcomed by colleagues both past and present, including UCC's Head of Study of Religions Department Amanullah De Sondy, and Emeritus Professor of Education and former Vice-President Aine Hyland.
