Dr Seamus O鈥橰eilly wins Supply Chain Leader Award
Dr Seamus O鈥橰eilly, Senior Lecturer and Academic Director of Supply Chain Management programmes at UCC, has won the 2015 Procurement and Supply Chain Leader Award at the National Procurement Supply Chain Awards.
This prestigious award is given to an industry leader who has shown talent, vision and ambition during their career.
Working with industry, Dr O鈥橰eilly has designed and delivered supply chain management programmes for many sectors including FMCG, pharmaceuticals, electronics and services. He helped develop the Masters in Supply Chain Management for Practitioners.
In his acceptance speech Dr O鈥橰eilly said: 鈥淭he presentation of this award is recognition of the value of lean and continuous improvement to our profession, and that is most welcome.
鈥淚t is also recognition of the role of education and, in particular, the contribution that workplace, action learning, can make to the on-going development of our profession.鈥
The monetised benefits, over 鈧100m in the last five years, results from, firstly companies that are motivated to continually improve and, secondly, professionals that are motivated to bring their functional expertise to bear as business leaders, Dr O鈥橰eilly added.
Over a 25-year academic career, Dr O鈥橰eilly has worked closely with industry. On this basis he has designed and delivered supply chain management programmes for practitioners in multinational and Irish-owned companies.
